Extrusion / Process Technician AT Fermilab - 12 Month Project

Our client, Fermi National Lab, is looking for an experienced extrusion / process technician to assist in sample preparation, sample testing & analysis, extraction runs and injection molding of parts.   

Expected Project Length: 12 months (Fermi National Lab also has the option to hire you)

Work days (Monday – Friday)

Full-Time (Part-Time is also available)

Work site Location:  Batavia, IL   

Expected First day of work: January 2025.

The worksite is a federal facility. ONLY REAL ID-compliant IDs are accepted to enter the Fermi site.

6. What minimum hourly rate of pay do you require to accept this position?

Duties of the position include:

• Prepare scintillator samples for light yield measurement.
• Prepare coating samples for reflectivity measurements.
• Measure samples using existing system and record data in excel.
• Support operation of the extrusion line & injection molding of parts.
• Assist in operation of the extrusion line & quality control of the resultant parts.
• Assist in operation of injection molding machinery & quality control of the resulting parts.
• Detailed report on activities and results from tests & measurements.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Three (3) Years of experience in the polymer industry

Preferred work experience in one or more of these areas:

• Profile extrusion, including line operation and die and sizer design fundamentals.
• Injection molding, including machine operation and mold design.
• Plastics testing and analysis.
