Export Development Canada (EDC) provides financing, working capital, risks mitigation solutions and market knowledge to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. EDC helps 8,400 Canadian companies and their global customers in up to 200 markets worldwide each year.
EDC is financially self-sustaining and is a recognized leader in financial reporting, economic analysis and human resource management. We offer the largest pool of trade finance specialists in Canada. EDC currently has an exceptional opportunity to join our US team as our U.S. national business development lead for the Digital Technology sector. The Senior Regional Manager (Digital Technology) position will be based in Dallas, Texas or Chicago Illinois.
EDC is seeking to hire a Senior Regional Manager (Digital Technology) for the United Sates at the LE -M1 level. Reporting to the Regional Vice President, United States, the position will be located within the Export Development Corporation Section of the Consulate General of Canada in Dallas or Chicago. Canada is one of the world’s top digital technology countries and the United States is the biggest market for Canadian digital technology companies. Your brief will be to help Canadian digital technology companies succeed in the U.S. market.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
As Senior Regional Manager for Digital Technologies in the United States, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance the export of Canadian digital technology goods and services to the U.S. market. Your role will involve working with clients, potential clients, industry stakeholders, and partner organizations to drive growth and increase market share.
- Market Research and Analysis thoroughly research the U.S. market for digital technology market, identifying trends, opportunities, and potential barriers. Analyze competitor activities and market dynamics to inform export strategies.
- Strategic Planning – Develop comprehensive export strategies tailored to specific digital technology products and services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the U.S., Canada, and abroad to align export goals with overall business objectives.
- Business Development – Identify and engage potential U.S. buyers, including businesses, governments agencies, and industry associations. Identify and onboard potential new Canadian mid-segment exporter customers. Promote Canadian digital technology offerings through targeted marketing campaigns, trade shows, and networking events.
- Regulatory Compliance – Stay informed on U.S. regulations and legislation impacting the import, sale, and use of Canadian digital technologies in the United States.
- Relationship Building – cultivate strong relationships with U.S. corporations (buyers), importers, distributors, and partners. Collaborate with Canadian trade associations and Canadian government partners including the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, other federal government departments and agencies, and Canadian provinces.
- Performance Metrics: Set measurable targets aligned with enterprise business objectives and track progress regularly. Evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives and adjust strategies as required.
Area of Selection:
Open to all candidates legally residing in the Chicago metropolitan area at the time of appointment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- Degree from accredited college or university; OR
- An acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position, including but not limited to business or economics.
Language:
An advanced proficiency level in English (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking).
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a senior business development role, preferably with capital providers or financial intermediaries with experience in commercial/corporate lending.
- Possesses a solid network of U.S. business contacts in the digital technology or related sectors.
RATED REQUIREMENTS

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- The ability to work in French
- Knowledge of current US and Canadian political events and issues.
Operational Requirements:
- Hours of work: Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week. Candidate should be willing and able to work overtime as needed and on short notice.
- Location of work: Work is normally performed on-site with flexibility for teleworking.
- Travel Requirements: This position requires travel throughout the United States and to Canada.

- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
