The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is part of the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences. The school is comprised of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice, and offers B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, M.S. in Pharmacology, Ph.D. in Pharmacological Sciences, and Pharm.D. degrees.
Directly oversees day-to-day administrative operations in the Office of Experiential Pharmacy Education (OEE) to apply knowledge about curriculum, accreditation, requirements, and educational activities in coordination of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) experiential education program. Manages teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, databases, and learner scheduling and compliance. Directly supervises work of OEE program coordinators to maintain consistent program operations. Develops strategies to improve program quality, and processes in compliance with accreditation standards.
Qualifications:Required:
- Knowledge of the health professions education industry, administrative analysis and operations research. Knowledge of assigned program requirements and curriculum
- Knowledge of department, organization, HR and university policies and processes. Current knowledge of relevant industry federal, state and local laws and regulations including national accrediting organizations and state and federal licensing and regulatory offices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in training and guiding employees on educational techniques. Motivates and inspires staff to improve the health profession education services
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment. Ability to organize assigned staff and unit operations in an efficient and effective manner.
- Effective communication skills with peers, learners, faculty, and other education program coordinators /managers
- Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process.
- Verbal and written communication skills to explain technical health profession / education concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.
- Proven ability to recruit faculty and integrate learners which requires high level planning and coordination skills, the ability to think strategically and communicate complex information to multiple stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience, including developing, implementing, and monitoring systems and programs, evaluating data, and participating in budget development
- Minimum of 3 years in health professions education industry
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience leading or supervising, formally or informally, a team, coordinating assignments, providing training and development, and fostering a collaborative environment
Preferred:
- In-depth knowledge of educational software and technologies to promote a wide-range of teaching and learning goals.
- Master's degree in related area preferred
Special Conditions:
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
