Job Title: Experienced Steel Project Manager
Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience
Position Overview:
Ramar Steel, a leading structural steel fabricator and erector based in Rochester, NY, is seeking an experienced and organized Steel Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing steel projects, with a deep understanding of the structural steel industry. This is a great opportunity to take a lead role in the successful execution of large-scale steel projects while working closely with senior management, clients, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage steel projects from start to finish, overseeing all aspects from planning and design to execution and completion.
- Ensure project goals are met by effectively coordinating fabrication, delivery, and erection schedules.
- Develop detailed project plans, ensuring alignment with client specifications and timelines.
- Proactively manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of fabrication and erection activities, including tracking project milestones and progress.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and efficient coordination of all on-site activities.
- Work closely with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution and timely completion.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide regular project updates, addressing any concerns or changes to project scope or schedule.
- Facilitate clear and effective communication with clients to ensure their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
Budget & Cost Management
- Develop, manage, and track project budgets, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
- Approve project expenditures, manage change orders, and ensure that costs are controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work with the accounting team to ensure accurate billing and financial reporting.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, site reports, and project schedules.
- Track and report project progress, identifying any delays, risks, or issues and taking proactive steps to resolve them.
- Ensure all project documentation is organized, up-to-date, and in compliance with company standards.
Site Visits & Quality Control
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure work is proceeding according to plan and that quality standards and safety protocols are being followed.
- Monitor and resolve any on-site issues related to materials, labor, or schedule.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and contractors to ensure smooth operations and high-quality work.
Problem Solving & Risk Management
- Address and resolve project-related challenges in a timely and effective manner, minimizing disruptions to the project timeline.
- Identify potential risks to the project schedule, costs, or quality and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that all stakeholders are informed of changes or challenges, maintaining transparency and effective communication.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience managing structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the steel industry, including fabrication, design, and erection processes.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive project success.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to resolve project issues.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards throughout the project.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project).
- Ethics & Integrity: Strong commitment to ethical practices, integrity, and professionalism.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen with knowledge of the construction market in Western New York.
