Veterinary Healthcare Associates is a veterinarian owned small animal practice that encourages a self-directed and entrepreneurial work environment. For over 30 years, VHA has proudly served the Central Florida community by delivering outstanding patient care and unmatched client service. Our practice offers a diverse and challenging case load and the tools and equipment to manage them. Our fast growing, progressive, AAHA accredited 10 doctor emergency, specialty referral and primary care practice. Our team has a place for everyone - full-time and part-time.
Veterinary Emergency Technician Responsibilities:
The Emergency Veterinary Technician has the ability to be a team player, multitask, quickly prioritize, problem solve, and handle stressful situations while maintaining a positive outlook. As part of the team you are expected to provide the highest level of care by monitoring and being the patient’s advocate with regard to pain management and quality of care. Key nursing skills include but are not limited to proper physical restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, fecal), drug calculations, administering medication, fluid therapy, anesthesia monitoring, taking radiographs, and maintaining logs. Excellent written and oral communication, basic math skills and computer literacy is a must along with a dedication to lifelong learning and continuous improvement.

- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) desirable but not required.
- Previous On-The-Job Emergency / Critical Care experience desirable when not a CVT.
- Minimum two years experience as veterinary technician preferred.
