Department Overview:
The Ohio State University prides itself on being one of the largest universities in the country. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences has been established for over 100 years. The Havener Eye Institute has its primary location in the Eye and Ear Institute building near campus. We have newly constructed state-of-the-art facilities that include on-site outpatient surgical centers. Position Overview:
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time clinical Low Vision Optometrist position. The successful candidate will primarily provide eye care for adults coping with the effects of conditions such as macular degeneration, albinism, retinitis pigmentosa, and optic atrophy among others that result in limited vision. Some pediatric care may be provided at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. ____________________________________________________________________________________
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Division Director and/or Department Chair is responsible for determining the work assignments. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of your faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee.
It is expected that the academic mission of the Department would be supported. In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be an opportunity to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment. Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching and may involve medical students, residents, or fellows. Educational responsibilities may also include research supervision and advising of medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows.
Service commitments will include clinical service at the OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected. Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected.

Requirements:
- Graduate of a United States-accredited School of Optometry
- Passed all parts of the NBEO exam
- Completion of Low Vision Rehabilitation Residency
- Must possess or be eligible for licensure to practice optometry in the State of Ohio
- Must support and embrace the diverse and inclusive culture of College of Medicine, the Medical Center, and the University

Compensation Package:
Salary: Commensurate with experience level, Signing Bonus, Relocation Assistance
