Responsibilities
Implement and supervise physical exercise programs for patients.
+ Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
+ Plan and teach exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitor patient's response and revise plan accordingly.
+ Recognize contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Respond appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
+ Provide exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
+ Ensure department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning correctly. Prepare, develop and maintain various files, records, reports; schedule patient appointments as required.
+ Provide oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
+ Certified Athletic Trainer preferred.
+ Exercise Physiologist credentialed from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.
+ Certification specializing in Strength & Conditioning preferred.
+ Certification specializing in Sports Medicine preferred.
+ Certification specializing in Personal Training preferred.
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree required.
+ Master’s degree preferred.
Additional Preferences
Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology/Exercise Science/Kinesiology/Physical Education program or closely related discipline.
