About Us: The Pennsylvania Surplus Lines Association (PSLA) is a non-profit organization that serves as an advisory organization under contract with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department for purposes of advising and consulting on matters concerning the surplus lines marketplace in Pennsylvania. At the same time PSLA provides extensive training and education to both resident and non-resident surplus lines licensees. Position Overview: As the Executive Director of PSLA, this role requires leadership to chart the course for our association, oversee day-to-day operations, and foster meaningful relationships with stakeholders across the surplus lines industry. With a focus on education, compliance, and cutting-edge technology, you'll play an essential role in shaping the future of surplus lines insurance in Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Set the strategic direction for PSLA in collaboration with the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment with association goals and industry best practices.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee all aspects of the association’s operations, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, licensees, and members, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
- Education and Training: Develop and implement comprehensive training and education programs for surplus lines licensees, leveraging the latest technology and industry trends to drive excellence.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain an understanding of federal and state laws and regulations governing the surplus lines industry, ensuring compliance and adherence to the Pennsylvania Surplus Lines Law.
- Legal and Financial Management: Work closely with legal counsel and financial advisors to manage contractual agreements, budgeting, and financial reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Technology Innovation: Lead efforts to enhance PSLA's technological infrastructure, including the development and maintenance of Electronic Filing Systems and other IT initiatives.
- Industry Collaboration: Represent PSLA in national and regional industry forums, fostering collaboration with other insurance organizations on common challenges and opportunities.
- Employee Development: Provide leadership and guidance to PSLA staff, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of leadership experience in the insurance or financial services industry, with a proven track record of success.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Insurance and Risk Management, or a related field; advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU) are a plus.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications; strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of surplus lines and property/casualty insurance markets, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
- Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams, build consensus, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Customer Focus: A commitment to delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on meeting and exceeding their needs and expectations.
- Integrity: A high degree of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in all interactions, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and compliance.
