A professional services firm in Manhattan is seeking a full-time Executive Driver / Chauffeur to provide professional driving services to a senior executive. This role directly impacts the executive’s productivity and daily responsibilities. The position ensures the comfort, safety, well-being, and timely transport of the executive, and occasionally includes driving services for immediate family members, including three children.
While hours are generally set, some flexibility is required. The ideal candidate is punctual, trustworthy, extremely reliable, and a great communicator with excellent knowledge of New York City and the Tri-State area. Former law enforcement experience is a plus. For the last 15 years, the position has been filled by a former law enforcement official, who is retiring at the end of this year.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide driving services to the senior executive to and from general destinations, appointments, meetings, residences, airports, etc.
- Maintain constant communication with two primary executive assistants regarding daily schedule, pick-up locations, and timing
- Research optimal routes, often utilizing the Waze App, considering construction, weather, travel time, and potential security concerns
- Monitor and plan for disruptions, such as planned demonstrations, affecting street closures
- Arrive for driving assignments well in advance of the scheduled departure time
- Employ appropriate evasive and defensive driving tactics to safeguard passengers
- Maintain vehicle’s cosmetic and mechanical excellence; ensure vehicle readiness by maintaining current insurance, registration, and service; handle fueling, interior/exterior detailing, inspections, and other maintenance needs
- Conduct daily visual inspections of the vehicle checking safety, cleanliness, and operational status
- Verify that all required equipment is accounted for and in good working order, including spare tire, jack, first aid kit, flares
- Proactively anticipate the executive’s needs and maintain their preferences
- Stock and maintain work supplies from the office including pads, pens, and chargers, and ensure they are in good working order
- Perform or assist with personal shopping, errands, and concierge work, as needed
- Assist with the lifting, packing, and occasional shuttling of heavy luggage/packages
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Current valid New York State driver’s license and clean driving record (no points on license)
- Demonstrated trustworthiness; proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Comprehensive knowledge of New York City and surrounding areas, including working familiarity with local and long-distance routes with minimal reliance on GPS
- Ability to adhere to explicit details and instructions while anticipating the executive’s needs
- Superior interpersonal skills and strong command of the English language
- Strong communication skills to interact with the executive team, especially two primary executive assistants, via cell phone, email, and text messaging
- Proficiency in computer applications including internet, email, and navigation tools such as the Waze app
- Flexibility regarding working hours, including some occasional late evenings
- Professional appearance and presentation required. Non-smoking environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional, respectful, and courteous demeanor
- Physical ability to lift, pack, and shuttle heavy luggage/packages occasionally
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma/GED required
- Current valid New York State driver’s license and clean driving record
- Minimum five years of executive driver/chauffeur experience
- Law enforcement experience preferred
- CPR and basic first aid certification preferred
WORKPLACE | COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on a number of factors, including (but not limited to): the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and business or organizational needs. The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary bonus not included in this pay range.
