St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Executive Director of Events and Conferences. The Executive Director oversees the College’s events, summer conferences and programs as well as the College’s hospitality functions in the Dodge Performing Arts Center. The position leads a vital unit in Institutional Advancement (IA), ensuring that events and conferences at St. Mary’s College exemplify its brand and messaging. The Executive Director works collaboratively with individuals across the campus and in the community to deliver high quality experiences in an effective and timely manner.
Primary duties of the job include providing seamless, end-to-end logistical management of events and conferences, ensuring event management staff assists the College campus in event bookings and scheduling to avoid conflicts, serving as the principal event liaison with the Office of the President, leading cross-campus event planning committees, and ensuring customer satisfaction through surveys.
The Executive Director of Events and Conferences also works with the Vice President of IA, the Vice President for Business and Finance and other appropriate campus leaders to develop and implement a summer conference/event revenue model.
Of importance, the IA team looks to this leader to bring ideas, creativity and strategic thinking to its collective work in strengthening the College’s reputation.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, seven (7) years of experience in event management and/or event planning desired along with proven experience in customer service, fiscal management and seeking/securing clients. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be able to meet deadlines and be able to lead and work collaboratively with teams. Some weekend and evening work is required. Must possess a driver’s license and ability to lift approximately twenty-five (25) pounds. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. Salary is $90,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
