About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for Research Computing to lead a world-class team dedicated to advancing computational and data-intensive research. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic vision and technology support for the research community, overseeing the daily operations of various research computing services, and maintaining a faculty-centered approach to service definition. This role requires a proven track record in research computing technology support, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage change and risks effectively. The Executive Director will also be tasked with fostering relationships with academic departments, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring the organization's systems are secure, reliable, and efficient. Candidates for this position at The Company should have a background in innovative technology, with 10-15 years' experience in research computing, preferably in a university context. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with a preference for a Ph.D. in a science or social science discipline. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in emerging trends in research computing technologies, have excellent communication skills, and possess strong fiscal management and leadership abilities. Responsibilities include developing and implementing IT strategies, maintaining governance processes, and managing relationships with third-party vendors. The role demands a thought leader who can effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and is committed to the mission of the organization.
