Job Summary
The Executive Campus Dean leads the operational functions of the Campus including campus athletic facilities and student housing; is responsible for the daily operations of the Campus; implements Campus programs and services and is responsible for DMACC’s functioning, reputation, accessibility, and partnerships in furtherance of the College’s mission, vision, and strategic plans. Coordinate with Executive Academic Deans and Student Affairs Deans to maximize opportunities for students and execute district Deans’ strategies and objectives. Work with community leaders to address community needs; work with local schools, businesses and organizations to maximize Campus and College enrollment and foster a Campus atmosphere that is consistent with the College’s core values.
Essential Functions
Provide leadership in carrying forward the College’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Lead, develop and supervise campus operations (e.g., IT, Facilities, Security, Athletics, Housing, etc.) and Student Affairs staff. Work in cooperation with the Executive Academic Deans, Student Affairs Deans, and other district-wide administrators and support personnel to facilitate long- and short-term College goals and initiatives. Assist and coordinate with Executive Academic Deans with developing academic course schedules that reflect the needs of students, and most effectively utilize College resources.
Management of faculty and staff and supervision of direct reports. Participate in and recommend personnel actions related to hiring, firing, compensation, performance evaluation, individual development plans, training, leave, discipline, grievances, work schedules and assignments; administer personnel and related policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements and the EEO/AA plan.
Assist and coordinate with Student Affairs Deans to maximize services to students and campus and College enrollment. Deliver and implement Student Affairs programming on campus under the direction of the Vice President, Student Affairs, in coordination with Student Affairs personnel that report to the campus. This includes following the policies and procedures to support and guide students, working to provide a student focused environment and manage and implement the plan for student retention, support, and graduation at the campus level in furtherance of college wide objectives. Completes status, performance, and other analysis reports, including monthly Campus progress and performance reports to College leadership.
Represent the campus and promote campus programs and services in the community and with area secondary schools. Serve as the College liaison with area educational administrators, community members, and local businesses and service organizations. Collaborate with donors and alumni on fundraising efforts. Develops and presents strategies for outreach, enrollment, and services. Serve on community boards and committees to represent the College’s commitment to local economic and cultural growth. Serve in a leadership role in planning for community activities at each campus and within the communities that support the mission of the College.
Lead campus level conversation in partnership with Executive Academic Deans and Student Affairs to ensure the campus offerings align with the needs of local high schools, transfer institutions and the workforce. Continuously review and improve programs to enhance partnerships. Promote service and instructional delivery through implementation of the Guided Pathways model.
Lead all operational activities and functions at the campus; including student housing and athletic facilities. Responsible for daily operations of facilities and all functions. Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise in coordination with the College’s Facilities Planning and Management department.
Responsible for the campus culture and ensuring that the campus is meeting the needs and expectations of the College.
Establish and maintain a system of effective district-wide communication among all campus functions. Serve on district-wide committees and provide leadership in the implementation of college-wide initiatives.
Work with the Vice President, Operations to develop, recommend for approval, and manage the campus operational budget and oversee purchases and usage of properties and materials. Work with the College Foundation, grants office, community partners, etc. to secure grants that meet the needs of the campus and the institution.
