Executive Assistant to Principal of Racial Justice Organization (New York City)
Executive Assistant to provide comprehensive support to Principal in a fast-moving, high-intensity environment and who represents her internally and externally. It is essential for the EA to understand the Principal’s role and priorities from the inside out in order to make decisions that reflect hers. The EA must think several steps ahead to anticipate problems. Role requires regular coordination with other team members, including other leadership and department members. Position is in-person when the Principal is in the New York office. Occasional travel is required to other East Coast locations for Board meetings, conferences and office visits. The environment is collaborative, intense, rewarding and fast-paced.
Requirements:
· BA/BS from competitive US college or equivalent
· Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting a C-level executive
· Commitment to the organization’s mission (racial equity)
· Superior writing and interpersonal communication skills
· Superior tech skills (eg ability to work by phone)
· Demonstrated capacity to exercise judgment, strict confidentiality and discretion
· Ability to match the fast-paced working style of the principal; to make decisions and changes quickly; and to maintain a positive, open disposition, even in the face of stressful circumstances
· Ability to multitask, remain extremely organized, and manage multiple moving parts
· The successful applicant will be someone who cares about other people, and who demonstrates this by how they treat others, without compromising effectiveness or authority
Responsibilities:
· Gatekeeping
· Heavy, changing, complex calendar including daily and weekly itineraries
· Representing the principal to internal staff and external stakeholders including Board members, donors and press
· Preparing meeting agendas, materials and talking points
· Ensuring timely, proactive communication with the security team
· Coordinating all travel logistics (local/between meetings and domestic)
· Expense processing
· Board meeting preparation and staffing
· Light correspondence and research
M-F 9am-6pm with on-call availability during evenings and weekends
$85K-$105K/year, 4 weeks PTO
