Creative Advisory Team Intern

I. QUALIFICATIONS
Working towards a college degree/recently graduated from a four-year program with a degree graphic design with an emphasis in multimedia, web design.
- Photography, video production/editing related course work a plus.
- Basic understanding of Web design, html, flash animation, and open-source content management systems.
- Basic understanding of layout, typography, and offset printing production.
- Beginner to intermediate skill level in the Macintosh computer platform with the following software: Adobe Creative Suite 5.0.
- Production experience desired.
- Experience using MS Office 2011.
- Ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and accurately.
- Capable of monitoring or remaining within project budgets.
II. POSITION SUMMARY
Internship: April – June 2013, up to 40 hours a week, $10/hour, monthly parking pass provided.
This position will be responsible for supporting the Creative Advisory Team with graphic/web/visual design, multimedia, project production, traffic and department administration duties.
This includes conceptual layouts, design schemes and project production. Projects entail all or some of the following elements: graphic design, concept development, video production/editing, photography, photo retouching, element design/redesign and digital illustration. Responsible for providing support to various projects and will be required to adhere to deadlines and communicate assignment status to team and on a regular basis. Responsible for final project production including front-end (quotes, research) and back-end (assembly) processes as well as administrative tasks to support the Creative Advisory Team.
III. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use graphic design skills to support Creative Advisory Team workload (print and Web based) to market the Detroit Regional Chamber's programs and initiatives based on direction provided by senior members of our team.
Adhere to the team's processes to keep design work flowing.
- Manage personal workflow in an organized and timely manner.
- Maintain status and reporting of assignment status as required.
- Manage assigned projects including supporting lead designer with marketing brief development, concept creation and review, progress reporting/ updates, client review cycles and support for final presentation.
Integrate with editorial staff to ensure advertisements meet our publication standards and guidelines.
- Create a central logo library on the Lion Server for the design/marketing team to use
- Maintain graphics/photo library for Team.
- Create/modify file formats of logos, photos as requested, correctly names, date and file graphics/photos.
In a collaborative fashion support and coordinate the needs for graphics department production.
- Maintain production equipment functionality.
- Order necessary supplies and keep track of budget.
- Production of miscellaneous internally printed materials (signage, small collateral projects).
- Compile monthly production report for team.
Act as on-staff photographer, videographer for Chambers events. Supporting the team with photography/video production as needed.
Other projects and duties as assigned. Support other team members during high-volume times.
