Position Overview:
This role will be classified based on the candidates experience. The goal is to train and develop the Quality Control (QC) Technician into the QC Manager position within two years. Candidates are expected to spend approximately five years in the QC arena before pursuing other management opportunities within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee quality control on job sites to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct pre-project planning, including reviewing specifications, preparing project submittals, implementing test sections, and developing QC project checklists.
- Maintain accurate records and provide timely reporting on job results, including gradation control charts, densities, strengths, and moisture levels.
- Perform field QC tests such as density checks, strength testing (cylinders and cores), pavement thickness measurements, moisture assessments, and gradation analysis.
- Collaborate with dispatch, sales, and customers to create and modify mix designs while adhering to cost constraints.
- Participate actively in pre-construction meetings with customers, sales teams, and management to ensure proper mix designs and project performance expectations.
- Train sales and operations personnel on technical updates and industry standards.
- Coordinate with testing laboratories to ensure timely and accurate quality control testing.
- Troubleshoot problems and report issues to management promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by upper management.
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in quality control or construction materials testing (pavement systems experience preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and reporting data effectively.
- Knowledge of mix designs and the ability to work within cost constraints.
- Familiarity with industry standards and ability to train team members.
- Willingness to grow into a management role within the company.
