SUMMARY
Performs job site management and coordination of Heavy Civil construction projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Others may be assigned.
- Support Safety program.
- Support the Division V.P. and others as necessary.
- Support the Equipment Manager and ensure that all assigned equipment is in proper operating condition, free of safety hazards and cleaned and greased daily.
- Ensure that the project is continually covered and current with Blue Stakes.
- Maintain daily diary and produce daily job reports.
- Coordinate Heavy Civil construction projects. (Earthwork, Underground Utilities, Site Preparation, etc.)
- Prepare daily, weekly and three-week construction activities plan.
- Direct field employees according to the daily plan.
- Ensure that all required materials and resources are ordered and available in accordance with the detailed construction activities plan.
- Read and understand Plans, Specifications and Soils Reports.
- Read and understand the job book.
- Ensure that Labor and Equipment hours are correct and correctly coded.
- Coordinate job activities and schedule review with the PM.
- Direct subcontractors as required.
- Review cost vs. budget & general construction productivity.
- Encourage repeat business & develop field contacts.
- Participate in client meetings.
- Participate in meetings with authorities and owners.
- Prepare job schedules for look ahead meetings
- Maintain job file(s) with correspondence & photographs.
- Maintain current drawings on site.
- Coordinate with PM on all extra work.
- Trouble shoot issues for the Division V.P., Project and PM
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Superintendents will supervise job assigned operators and laborers. Superintendents will interact closely with Building Superintendents, Field Foremen and Field Crews and Subcontractors.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
5 years related construction experience.
CRITICAL TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Plan Reading.
- Proficiency in Equipment Operation.
- Proficiency in setting, transferring and understanding grades.
- Proficiency in managing and directing field personnel.
- The ability to operate standard field equipment and instruments.
- Proficiency in GPS controlled equipment.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and surveying.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Special Requirements: Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
