About the Job
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Events Manager is responsible for ensuring public events and private events(including weddings, groups, and filming projects) are successfully activated. This position coordinates with the sales team following the sale of private events and groups to ensure all needs, products, and services are delivered - including food and beverage, recreation, activities, and A/V. The Events Manager develops and activates public events, working across all departments as necessary.
Job Requirements
Intermediate or advanced ski or snowboard ability required
2+ years experience in an events role at a ski resort or other hospitality business
Excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail
Skilled in the organization and management of simultaneous events
Experience in organizingand delivering successful weddings
Strong computer and technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking
Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
Ability to align decision making with company values, strategies, and goals
Proficient in working across teams to deliver on a common goal
Proper health and alcohol certifications required within 30 days of employment
Duties
Manage events team to plan, coordinate, and activate all public and private events.
Coordinate closely with sales, F&B, Snowsports, and ops teams to ensure proper resource alignment and successful event activation
Ensure appropriate event day staffing
Develop annual public events calendar that aligns with Solitudes strategic objectives
Prepare annual budget and ensure adherence
Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
Assess public events and report on successes, opportunities, and learnings
Host site tours for potential groups and eventsas necessary
Assure wedding rehearsals are attended and directed by event staff
Coordinate with wedding parties to plan layout, timeline, ceremony, and F&B details
Attend trade shows as deemed necessary
