Duration: 6 months (with possible extension)

Required skills include:
- 3+ years of event management experience
- Growth mindset, including a comfort level with experimentation

- Good judgment, even in the face of ambiguity

POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Stanford Data Science (SDS) Event Coordinator is responsible for the operational planning and execution of SDS event activities including the following successful:
- planning
- management
- execution
- communications
- financial reporting
- Event analytics and reporting
- This position reports to the SDS Community Manager and works with all SDS staff, faculty, and event vendors (Stanford Video, Stanford Event Services, and external contractors).
- The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in teams with diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Help plan and execute event activities for SDS, SDS Centers, and Women in Data Science at Stanford (WiDS@Stanford) that contribute to advancing the research agendas and community engagement goals.
- Events may include:
- Informal networking gatherings
- Seminars
- Lectures
- Symposia
- All-day conferences
- Help plan and manage logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support, and pre-and post-event evaluations
- Coordinate vendor services
- Provide on-site event support
- May research and provide recommendations for potential event locations and evaluate alternatives
- Track invoices, manage receipts, and help manage event budgets, including helping with monthly budget reconciliation
Requirements:
- will be driving golf carts. Valid DL is required.
- Minimum Education and Experience Required
- Three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Bachelor's degree desired, marketing and communication background desired.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated success in planning events
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, taking initiative, judgment, and decision-making
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and customer service skills. Must be well-organized and detail-oriented
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other online documents, such as Google Docs
- Ability to interact with a broad spectrum of contributing groups and customers
