Summary/Objective
As an Event Cook, you will produce high-quality food while adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Produce food according to recipes and directions
- Assist with food preparation and cooking for events
- Cut and clean fruits, vegetables, and proteins
- Follow food preparation lists and portioning details
- Ensure consistent quality and taste of all prepared items
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow proper rotation and storage procedures
- Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines
- Close the kitchen properly following checklists
- Assist with additional tasks as directed by the Event Chef
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent culinary skills with knowledge of international cuisines
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proficient in safe knife handling and kitchen equipment use
- High sense of urgency and professionalism
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
- Fast-paced kitchen with high noise levels
- Exposure to cleaning solutions and slippery surfaces
- Frequent transitions between cold and normal kitchen environments
- Standing for 6-8 hours with physical activity (bending, lifting 20-50 pounds)
Requirements
- Active Food Handler’s Card (California Health Department)
- Neat appearance with clean uniform and PPE
- Minimum 1 year of kitchen experience
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
