We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Permanent Estimator for Public Work to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Estimator for Public Work, you will be responsible for:
1. Preparing detailed cost estimates for public sector construction projects, including analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.
2. Working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and government officials to gather information and resolve issues.
3. Conducting site visits and gathering all necessary data to create accurate estimates.
4. Evaluating the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
5. Reviewing design options and recommending best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and availability of materials.
6. Developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
7. Presenting prepared estimates to clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.
8. Keeping up-to-date with the latest construction methods, materials, and trends in the public sector.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Estimator (Public Work) role must have:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating, preferably in the public sector.
2. A strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations for public buildings such as schools, libraries, courts, and community centers.
3. Proven experience in preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
4. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
5. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
6. Proficiency in using estimating software and other relevant computer applications.
7. A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
8. A professional certification in estimating or a related field would be an advantage.
