Job Details
Responsibilities:
Review project specifications and architectural drawings to determine scope of work and materials required for glass and glazing installations.
Conduct detailed material take-offs and quantify quantities of glass, aluminum framing, hardware, and other components needed for each project.
Obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate pricing, and select vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery schedule.
Prepare accurate cost estimates and bid proposals using industry-standard estimating software and tools.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to address any technical or design-related issues that may impact project costs.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
Monitor market trends, material costs, and industry regulations to ensure competitiveness and profitability in bidding process.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and support staff within the estimating department.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating within the glass industry, with a focus on commercial and residential projects.
Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar programs.
Strong knowledge of glass and glazing systems, including curtain walls, storefronts, windows, and doors.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project specifications and drawings.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating project costs and quantities.
Proven track record of successfully bidding and securing projects within the glass industry.
