Estimator - Construction at ProWest Engineering

ProWest Engineering Inc. is seeking a motivated professional Construction Estimator for our Los Angeles & Orange market.

ProWest Engineering is a 3^rd generation, woman-owned, family-oriented, career-minded company We are primarily focused on commercial and retail site work. Work generally includes retail centers, medical buildings, office buildings, homeowner communities, convenience stores and many other locations. Our projects range from $20k - $3 mil and business is always growing.

We have an immediate opening for a reliable and motivated individual, preferably with estimating experience. This individual should have the knowledge and experience to do take-offs, negotiate pricing with subs, work up cost based on in house production rates, attend pre-construction meetings, attend estimating meetings to review progress of estimating department. Establishing and maintaining a strong working relationship with employees, owner, architect, and subcontractors are critical. The Estimator will partner with our Project Managers, Site Superintendent, and client to ensure a successful project.

Estimator Responsibilities

• Develop accurate take off from plans and field visits
• Develop detailed scopes of work
• Develop clear and accurate proposals
  • Communicate, report, and promptly resolve any issues in the field
• Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents
  • Review and understand material budgets and negotiate purchase orders
  • Review and understand equipment budgets and negotiate rental rates
  • Monitor project costs and identify areas for improvement

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree in related field or 5+ years of applicable experience
  • Experience with relevant large-scale concrete and asphalt projects
  • Strong working relationships with subcontractors
  • Knowledge of construction principles & practices required
  • Excellent organizational, team management, problem solving, motivational skills

Job Type: Full-time position

Hourly Range: $30 to $45

Location: Orange, CA
