Are you passionate about the construction industry and have a knack for numbers and project planning? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Estimator for Commercial Construction who can effectively estimate costs for our commercial construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving team and showcase your abilities in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction, with a focus on estimating and project management.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Estimator for Commercial Construction, you will be integral to our project planning and execution process. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Preparing detailed cost estimates by analyzing the project's plans and specifications and identifying factors affecting costs, such as production time, materials, and labor.
2. Reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements and preparing itemized lists for commercial projects.
3. Conducting a 'take off' which involves quantifying and pricing the amount of materials and labor necessary for a construction project.
4. Collaborating with contractors, architects, and engineers to gather detailed information about a project.
5. Analyzing company data, monitor budgets, and price supplies to ensure cost-effectiveness.
6. Negotiating with vendors and subcontractors to secure the best prices and quality for materials and labor.
7. Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite for project management, data analysis, and communication.
8. Maintaining records of estimated and actual costs, updating information as necessary to provide accurate and timely data for decision-making.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
2. A proven track record of successfully estimating and managing commercial construction projects.
3. Proficiency in 'take off' procedures and purchasing for construction projects.
4. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and project management.
5. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors.
6. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications and translate them into accurate cost estimates.
7. A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
