Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in our project lifecycle, managing and coordinating all estimation activities, preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Job Duties:
- Estimate Development: Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates by breaking down project scope into work packages, identifying material and labor requirements, and analyzing historical data and industry benchmarks.
- Subcontractor Management: Conduct thorough research and evaluation of subcontractors, considering factors such as price, quality, reliability, and past performance to select the most suitable partners.
- Risk Assessment: Proactively identify and assess potential risks associated with projects, developing mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project costs and schedules.
- Client and Stakeholder Collaboration: Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, address questions, and negotiate changes or adjustments to cost estimates.
- Presentation and Defense: Present and defend cost estimates and project budgets to clients and stakeholders, clearly articulating assumptions, methodologies, and potential risks.
- Tender and Negotiation: Actively participate in the tendering process, analyzing bid documents, preparing competitive bids, and negotiating contracts to optimize project profitability.
- Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records of estimated and actual costs, utilizing historical data to inform future estimates and improve accuracy.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in estimating to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of success in a Senior Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction principles, materials, labor costs, and industry standards.
- Advanced proficiency in estimating software and tools, including Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address potential cost implications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with clients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
