JUNIOR ESTIMATOR - Full Time position in Bay Shore, NY
Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000 usd
Summary
This position supports and assists the Senior Estimators and Owner to bid and estimate Heavy Highway and Building services for construction projects. A successful Estimator will be detailed-orientated, analytical, and will possess sound knowledge of contracting codes, road, foundational and building plans.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review project plans, requirements, and specifications
Determine labor and equipment costs
Prepare cost estimates for projects as per company business model and industry standards
Assist senior team members with larger bid preparation
Attend pre-qualification events and site visits as required
Manage, oversee or perform take-offs, evaluations, breakdowns and materials pricing
Participate and contribute in weekly meetings with estimating and operations teams
Analyze bid documents to determine scope of work and assess possible risks
Prepare bid packages in compliance with Owners’ requirements
Solicit, analyze and compare vendor proposals
Work with operation teams throughout the project lifecycle
Determine and communicate project logistics and schedule
Provide tracking log of all project proposals and awarded jobs
Perform post-bid buyouts and follow-up
Process ongoing work in process project data
Process One Call Tickets
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:
Degree in Construction Science/Mgmt, Mechanical Contracting, Civil or Industrial Engineering, or related field experience
2-4 years working as a contracting estimator
The ability to interpret read and blueprints, civil plans, engineering specs for roadway and building construction.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and writing skills
Understanding of Bluebeam and Microsoft office Suite products including Word and Excel
Must have at least 1-2 years’ experience in working with city and state agencies (NYS DOT, NYC MTA, etc.)
