GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is seeking a qualified candidate to analyze documents, verify information, and ensure that all parties involved in an escrow arrangement are compliant with legal regulations and office policy and procedures. The escrow underwriter requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders involved in the transaction. This role ensures a smooth and efficient escrow process, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Document Review and Analysis: Prepare, Review, and analyze real estate contracts, purchase agreements, title reports, and other documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Verify the terms of the escrow transaction and cross-reference with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate the financial stability of the parties involved, including buyers, sellers, and lenders, to assess the risk associated with the escrow arrangement.
- Identify and address potential red flags, discrepancies, or issues that could impact the successful completion of the transaction.
- Underwriting Decision: Determine whether the escrow arrangement meets the established underwriting guidelines and standards. Make informed decisions on whether to approve, modify, or reject the transaction based on risk assessment and compliance verification.
- Communication: Collaborate with real estate agents, loan officers, title officers, and others to gather necessary information and resolve any discrepancies. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to address concerns, provide guidance, and share updates throughout the entire process.
- Timeline Management. Develop and maintain a timeline, ensuring all deadlines are met. Monitor the process of inspections, appraisals, insurance, etc. to ensure timely completion.

- Must have access to reliable internet connection.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to perform job duties, a valid CA driver's license and meet the state-required amount of personal automobile liability insurance.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check.
- Although no longer required, we strongly encourage all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will continue to require all employees to submit their vaccination status by the date of hire.

COMPENSATION:
Pay range: $25.00 - $28.00
