Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients presenting with a wide variety of urgent and critical conditions. The RN will work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The role includes performing triage, monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, assisting with procedures, and ensuring patient safety.
- Perform initial assessments and triage of patients in the Emergency Department, ensuring prompt prioritization of care.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report changes in condition to the physician or healthcare team.
- Provide emergency care such as CPR, airway management, wound care, and life-saving interventions.
- Assist in medical procedures, including setting up equipment and supporting the physician during treatment.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding their care, treatment plans, and progress.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic health systems.
- Ensure infection control practices are followed in all areas of patient care.
- Work with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
- Participate in regular education and training opportunities, maintaining certifications and staying up-to-date with clinical best practices.
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience.
- BSN required; advanced certifications are a plus.
- Current and active Massachusetts RN License.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required.
- COVID vaccines + booster required at time of submission.
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in high-stress situations.
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and night shifts as part of a rotating schedule.
