The Reliability Engineer is an integral part of our maintenance team focused on predictive and preventive measures for the mill.

- Analyze plant downtime, quality, safety, and financial data to identify areas of focus for the maintenance and operations teams
- Conduct and coordinate failure investigations, including analyzing failure mechanisms and implementing solutions to improve reliability, quality, safety, and financial performance.
- Redesign machinery and/or processes to improve plant reliability and lower operating costs.
- Direct supervision of the Reliability Technicians. Implement best practices for lubrication, handling, application, and storage of lubricants along with the oil analysis program.
- Direct oversight of the preventative and predictive maintenance programs which include vibration analysis, thermography, infrared, oil analysis, precision alignment and others to improve the mill’s reliability program.
- Responsible for hydraulic and compressor programs
- Designs reliability assurance plans by reviewing equipment design concepts and specifications; studying operator reports and reliability requirements; identifying short-term and long-range issues; researching and identifying applicable safety standards; developing preventive maintenance policies, programs, and procedures; preparing equipment asset plans; preparing lowest life cycle cost analyses.
- Develops reliability assurance approaches by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying maintenance and test concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria including rotating machinery, conveying systems, compressed air systems, pneumatic conveying systems, etc.; adapting and modifying maintenance and test options; qualifying vendors and service contractors; reviewing bid specifications and equipment upgrades.
- Organizes reliability assurance program by preparing schedules, cost estimates, and required resources.
- Identifies equipment failures by evaluating new equipment; troubleshooting existing equipment; establishing test standards; selecting, designing, conducting and witnessing tests developing models and simulations; performing diagnostic procedures; measuring performance; recording failures and problems; analyzing and evaluating findings and failures; performing forensic analysis of failures; identifying root causes.
- Identifies and implements corrective actions by providing technical support; resolving non-reliability; recommending equipment changes, and new parts and components; initiating engineering change orders; recommending optimal solutions; auditing maintenance records; conducting equipment inspections; training operators and supervisors.
- Documents reliability studies by recording test results; preparing investigative reports; maintaining reliability database.
- Prepares reliability reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing measurement data and trends; conveying findings to engineering design team.
- Maintains engineering team accomplishments by reviewing open issues and action items; coordinating actions; contributing information and analysis to team meetings and reports.
- Ensures operation of test equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging reliability engineering practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
- Enhances engineering and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience with maintenance and reliability of industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Self-directed and motivated.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to adapt and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Maximo.
- Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or similar Engineering Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
