Apex Systems is currently assisting our top hospital client in the Philadelphia area with their search for an Epic Systems Administrator. The primary focus for our client is bringing in someone with great experience in either Windows or Linux/Unix environments. Epic experience is not required as we will sponsor the certification. Expected Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 annually
Job Description: We are looking to fill two roles under the title of Epic Systems Administrator:
Epic Operational Database Administrator (ODBA):
- Responsible for the installation, administration, configuration, maintenance, and proactive monitoring of the Epic production and non-production environments.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the highly complex Epic systems, providing ongoing support and technical expertise.
- Manage databases, including design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, scripting, and the use of vendor-specific database tools.
- Provide general support for all systems utilizing database technology.
- Properly document and follow appropriate change management procedures, including testing and documentation of all changes.
- Ensure the integrity of the systems is maintained when applications are enhanced and modified.
- Perform capacity planning in conjunction with other system managers to ensure the database has ample space for growth.
- Guide and consult with IT staff and advise users on various databases.
- Conduct quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
- Provide shared 24/7 on-call support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security, and performance.
- Install, configure, and maintain Epic clinical systems.

- Manage clinical databases, including design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and scripting.
- Provide general support for all systems utilizing clinical database technology.
- Properly document and follow appropriate change management procedures, including testing and documentation of all changes.
- Ensure the integrity of the systems is maintained when applications are enhanced and modified.
- Perform capacity planning to ensure database growth.
- Guide and consult with IT staff and advise users on clinical database usage.
- Conduct quality control and auditing of clinical databases to ensure accurate and appropriate data use.
- Provide shared 24/7 on-call support for clinical database services to ensure high availability, resilience, integrity, security, and performance.
- For Windows-focused role(ECSA): Experience with Epic systems and database management in a Windows environment.
- For Linux/Unix-focused role(ODBA): Experience with Epic systems and database management in a Linux/Unix environment.
- Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in database monitoring and scripting.
- Proficiency in database monitoring and scripting.
- Excellent documentation and change management skills.
- Ability to perform capacity planning and provide technical guidance.
- Strong quality control and auditing skills.
- Willingness to provide 24/7 on-call support.
- Epic experience is not required as we will sponsor the certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree required in a relevant field.
