Boulder Community Health is seeking an Epic Analyst, Patient Access responsible for the analysis, design, implementation, education, support, and ongoing improvement of assigned Epic and related application software. The Systems Analyst – Epic will understand the functions and processes and the role of technology in customer departments at Boulder Community Health (BCH) and supported Epic Connect sites.

Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a Healthcare related field preferred. An equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or relevant IT/Healthcare certifications will be considered.
•Experience using or supporting patient registration and Eligibility/Referral technology and workflows in a hospital or clinic setting.
Level 1
•Demonstrated technical aptitude via standardized Sphinx exam required.
•Epic certification or accreditation for primary supported Application(s) required within 90-days of hire date.
•Up to two years of relevant healthcare or IT (Information Technology) experience preferred.
Level 2
•Demonstrated technical aptitude via standardized Sphinx exam required.
•Epic certification or accreditation for primary supported Application(s) required within 90-days of hire date.
•Additional Healthcare or IT Industry Certification preferred: AAHAM, HFMA, HIMSS, ITIL, RHIT, or PMP Certification. Other certifications to be considered for relevance as approved by the Director.
•Additional Epic Certification, Accreditation, Proficiency in related Application(s) preferred.
•One to five years of relevant healthcare IT application support experience required.
•Epic user or support experience preferred.
•Experience demonstrating a high level of efficiency using technology in a healthcare setting is required.
•Some experience assessing and developing Healthcare IT support documentation, including Knowledge Base, Status Report, Workflow Diagram, Tip Sheet, Policy/Procedure, and Key Decision documents and communication required.
•Participated in a minimum of one healthcare technology implementation/go-live or significant system upgrade required.
Level 3
•Demonstrated technical aptitude via standardized Sphinx exam required.
•Epic Certification or Accreditation for the primary supported application(s) required within 90-days of hire.
•Epic Core Analyst Badge and one additional Epic Badge, Certification, Accreditation, or Proficiency in a related specialty required within one year of hire.
•Additional Healthcare or IT Industry Certification strongly preferred: AAHAM, HFMA, HIMSS, ITIL, RHIT, or PMP Certification. Other certifications to be considered for relevance as approved by the Director.
•More than five years of Epic application support experience required.
•Experience demonstrating a high level of expertise in using technology in a healthcare setting is required.
•Experience in assessing and developing Healthcare IT support documentation, including Knowledge Base, Status Report, Workflow Diagram, Tip Sheet, Policy/Procedure, Quality Control and Key Decision documents and communication is required.
•Worked independently as an application coordinator on a minimum of three healthcare technology implementations / go-lives or significant system upgrades required.
•Previous team or project leadership is required.
Responsibilities
•Analyzes System/User Needs
a. Acts as the primary support contact for the application's end-users.
b. Identifies issues that arise in their application area as well as issues that impact other application teams and working to resolve them.
c. Guides workflow design, building and testing the system, and analyzing other technical issues associated with Epic or integrated software.
d. Identifies, tests, implements, and validates requested changes to the application or technology.
e. Serves as a liaison between end users' workflow needs and implementation staff.
f. Maintains regular communication on all priorities and deliverables, including participating in all relevant departmental and project meetings.
g. Works with Epic and integrated software representatives, BCH's business community, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs.
h. Develops an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows by attending site visits, validation sessions, and other integrated sessions.
i. Participates in training and working with end users.
j. Troubleshoots problems and questions.
k. Reviews the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.
l. Continually reviews system operations to identify weaknesses, operational or workflow problems, and other areas that need improvement.
m. Assists in evaluating systems, preparing an analysis of alternatives, and implementing enhancements to existing systems.
n. Maintains problem/issue tracking and resolution documentation.
•Develops & Implements Optimization and Project Plans
a. Creates and executes implementation plans, estimates timeframes, outlines specific tasks and identifies resources needed to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
b. Assists customer departments with the implementation of healthcare technology.
c. Monitors progress and keeps projects on track by conducting regular project meetings and following up with areas that need assistance.
d. Prepares and submits project documentation (i.e., risk management plan, communication plan, project status reports, etc.) to the assigned Project Manager and/or Stakeholders.
•Supports End Users
a. Responds to user’s requests and/or work orders in a timely and professional manner by diagnosing problems, offering solutions and coordinating with the appropriate vendor support if necessary.
b. Provides technical and clinical system knowledge necessary to integrate the user environment and workflows with the available technology.
c. Makes use of BCH and vendor problem/request tracking software. Keeps current documentation on all assigned tickets and tasks.
d. Maintains system configuration and performs user security management functions.
e. Assists with the development of documentation and policies/procedures regarding supported applications and technology. Ensures all appropriate departments are involved in the development of policies.
