POSITION OVERVIEW
The EPC Estimator will work under the direction of the Proposal Manager and is responsible for material takeoffs, cost analysis, preparation, and presentation of discipline estimates for small to mid-cap construction projects, several of which are complex.
Targeted markets include but are not limited to Midstream, Downstream and Renewable Construction and EPC projects across the US. The primary focus will be on Midstream and Downstream field fabrication of structural and mechanical components including the installation and tie-in of equipment packages and incorporating historical data from previous estimates to expedite the process.
Must be capable of estimating work at the lowest probable costs through engagement with Construction Managers to regulate construction resources and methods and develop effective construction strategies utilizing other department resources such as scheduling, procurement, etc. Position requires ability to interface with a diverse Proposal Team from Engineers to Field personnel as required by the Work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow company standards and processes to develop complete and accurate estimate.
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Review and understand RFQ documentation to determine scope of work and develop estimate requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs development from drawings, specifications, etc.
- Develop estimate breakouts to align with proposal and bid submittal documents, i.e., Client breakout pricing sheets.
- Determine labor, material, construction equipment, subcontractors, and other direct cost for the project's execution and incorporate subcontractor, vendor/supplier costs.
- Develop bid packages for distribution to subcontractors and vendors.
- Develop quote comparison sheets to analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing.
- Work with the Proposal & Construction Managers to ensure the project execution plan and basis of estimate are aligned with the actual Construction plan.
- Analyze crew structures and determine discipline and quantity requirements.
- Assist the Proposal Team in identifying / mitigating risk and performing cost analysis.
- Participate in the estimate review process with Proposal Team members.
- Determine project successes and areas for improvement by analyzing past cost from ongoing and completed projects.
- Upon successful contract award, assist with project initiation by aligning the estimate to accommodate the project team, project controls, and finance departments documentation requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or technology, degree can be substituted with extensive related work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in heavy industrial construction and field fabrication for Midstream and Downstream projects.
- Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of construction methods, costs, techniques, construction safety and OSHA Requirements.
- Working knowledge of EPC project estimating.
- Organizational and time management skills while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Some travel may be required.

- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
- Work overtime and weekends as required to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
