Job DescriptionAECOM has an opening for an Environmental Technician in our Atlanta, GA office. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, reliable and have good interpersonal communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs soil, groundwater, surface water, waste, sediment and air sampling.
- Collect and evaluate environmental data in field and office settings;
- Uses field instruments and equipment as necessary to meet health and safety as well as field sampling and O&M requirements.
- Documents all field activities and notes.
- Performs subcontractor oversight.
- Communicates effectively with project managers.
- Has a high degree of health and safety awareness.
- Works within defined scopes, schedules and budgets while producing quality work.
- Maintains knowledge of sampling procedures and protocols in accordance with recognized industry standards.
- Will work under close supervision of an engineer or scientist.
- Work will entail daily and overnight travel to worksites.
Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work will be required including oversight of subcontractors.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- High School Diploma AND a Minimum of four plus years of experience in a similar role, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Due to the nature of this role, US citizenship is required
- Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check.
- Ability to travel up to 90% to various job sites within US.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or trade certification is a PLUS
- Selected candidate will be required to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class, if needed;
- Selected Candidate will also receive First Aid/CPR training and AECOM specific training;
- Candidate should have proficient technical writing skills and ability to effectively express his or herself orally in project reviews conducted among internal staff;
- Experience on Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) site and in remediation of environmental sites a plus;
- Possess strong work ethic and problem-solving skills;
- Candidate who can exhibit a mature sense of professional responsibility and awareness of accepted standards of professional behavior; and
- Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; MS Word and MS Excel.
