SUMMARY:
The St. Paul Park Refinery has a full-time, exempt opening for an Environmental Specialist. The position reports to the Environmental Supervisor and will be part of a team of experienced environmental specialists. The Environmental Specialist will perform a variety of tasks to support and ensure environmental compliance across refinery operations. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, leading and supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Ensure assigned environmental compliance programs are in conformance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
+ Prepare required regulatory reports in areas of responsibility.
+ Provide regulatory compliance assistance to other departments within the refinery.
+ Review refinery projects for regulatory compliance and develop compliance schedules.
+ Review new regulations for potential impacts on the refinery.
+ Work as a member of an Area Team to support day-to-day operation of the refinery in compliance with applicable requirements and company policies.
+ Lead and participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions as requested.
+ Lead and participate in HES field audits and develop corrective actions, as required.
+ Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies.
+ Develops environmental information, manuals, training material, and programs; conducts appropriate training sessions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline
+ Minimum 5 years of experience working in an environmental role
+ Experience with interpreting and implementing environmental regulations
+ Ability to research, analyze and troubleshoot problems
+ Ability to build consensus and follow up with internal and external customers
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Experience performing an environmental role within an industrial setting
+ Preferred experience working in the petroleum refining industry or chemical industry
+ Preferred experience with Greenhouse Gas, Air Emission Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, Continuous Emission Monitoring and Boiler Heater MACT.
