This scientist will use advanced instrumentation, such as LC/MS, GC/MS, HPLC, and GC-FID, to support microplastic detection, environmental impact assessment, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities & duties:
- Lead laboratory operations using LC/MS, GC/MS, HPLC, and GC-FID, with additional support for ICP-MS and wet chemistry methods.
- Plan and execute sample collection, preparation, and testing for microplastic contaminants and associated analytes.
- Develop and validate testing methods for microplastics, phthalates, and related environmental pollutants.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor lab technicians.
- Create systems to maximize lab efficiency and automation.
- Ensure precise calibration, maintenance, and performance of all instrumentation.
- Maintain compliance with ISO, EPA, and relevant environmental standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows.
- Uphold a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of laboratory experience in high-throughput analytical settings, ideally with microplastic or pollutant analysis.
- Strong proficiency with GC/MS.
- Preferred proficiency with LC/MS, HPLC, and GC-FID.
- Method development experience is essential.
- Familiarity with ISO and EPA standards for environmental testing.
- Experience with LIMS and QMS software, particularly QBench.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
