Apex Contracting & Restoration Inc. is searching for a dedicated Environmental Remediation Technician to join our team, focusing on residential and commercial environmental mitigation. In this role, you'll perform essential front-end mitigation tasks to prepare sites for restoration, including water extraction, fire and smoke damage restoration, and mold remediation. - Environmental Mitigation: Perform water extraction, fire and smoke damage restoration, and mold remediation services to prepare sites for remodeling and restoration.
- Site Preparation: Remove damaged materials, including drywall, carpets, and debris, and conduct necessary demolition to ready sites for the restoration team.
- Use of Equipment: Operate industry-standard equipment (moisture meters, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers) safely and effectively to handle mitigation tasks.
- Multi-Trade Skills (Preferred): Execute additional tasks across several trades, including:
- Demolition and Cleanup: Safely remove and dispose of materials and prepare work areas.
- Waterproofing: Apply waterproofing methods to prevent water infiltration.
- Framing & Insulation: Build, repair, and insulate walls and frameworks as necessary.
- Drywall: Hang, tape, finish, and repair drywall.
- Finished Carpentry: Perform finish carpentry, including trim work.
- Stucco and Painting: Apply stucco and paint both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Roofing Repairs: Carry out minor roofing repairs as required.
- General Construction Knowledge: Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related trades.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including OSHA and company guidelines, and utilize PPE as required on job sites.
- Client Communication: Interact professionally and empathetically with clients, explaining mitigation processes and ensuring client satisfaction. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus!
- Documentation: Assess and accurately document project scope and site conditions to ensure quality outcomes.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with fellow team members to ensure timely, high-quality project completion.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years in environmental mitigation, construction, or a related field is preferred. Entry-level candidates with basic construction skills and an eagerness to learn are welcome.
- Licenses/Certifications: IICRC certification is preferred; additional certifications in water, fire, or mold remediation are a plus.
- Skills: Strong understanding of mitigation practices, with good communication, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, standing, bending, and working in various environmental conditions.
- Multi-Trade Skills: Experience across multiple trades, such as demolition, framing, insulation, drywall, and finished carpentry, is highly preferred.
- Compliance: Valid CA driver's license and ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
