Job Title: Environmental Project Manager - Emergency Spill Response
Overview:Our client, a leader in environmental services, is seeking an Environmental Project Manager with expertise in emergency spill response to join their team. This role focuses on managing and overseeing projects related to hazardous material containment, remediation, and cleanup while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental project management, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:Oversee emergency spill response projects from initiation to completion, including assessment, containment, remediation, and closure activities.
Emergency Response Coordination:Act as the primary point of contact during spill emergencies, coordinating with clients, government agencies, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure timely and effective response efforts.
Compliance:Ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other governing agencies.
Resource Allocation:Manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure the successful execution of response efforts.
Budget Management:Develop, monitor, and manage budgets for spill response projects, ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining high-quality service.
Reporting:Prepare detailed reports and documentation for clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders, including spill incident assessments, remediation plans, and final project closeout documentation.
Team Leadership:Supervise and mentor field staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and promoting professional development within the team.
Client Relations:Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs, providing exceptional service, and offering expert guidance during emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in environmental project management, emergency spill response, or related fieldwork.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, including RCRA, CERCLA, HAZWOPER, TSCA, and DOT.
- HAZWOPER certification (40-hour) required; additional certifications are a plus.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects involving hazardous material containment, soil/water remediation, or emergency response.
- Proficiency in creating project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and deliver clear client updates.
- Ability to travel as needed and respond to emergencies on short notice.
