Job Description:
In this position, you will be joining teams locally and across the West, working on a diverse portfolio of water supply planning studies and environmental documentation with our Water Services Group. Your tasks could include:
•Under light supervision, gathers, compiles, and analyzes land use, water supply and quality, natural resource conditions, population growth, economic forecasting, and other related data to evaluate basic to high complexity environmental effects for water resources planning studies, feasibility studies, environmental impact studies/reports, and permit applications.
•Under light supervision, prepares environmental studies (e.g., NEPA and CEQA documents, field reports, feasibility studies, etc.) of basic to high complexity.
•Collaborates with engineers, scientists, and construction staff to research, analyze, or resolve complex environmental impact-related design issues (e.g., restoration, remediation, mitigation etc.).
•Provides advice and expertise on selected project approach.
•Reviews land use plans for compliance with applicable local, state and federal environmental and conservation laws.
•Provides technical guidance, training, and serves as a mentor to junior staff to support their development and growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior staff on project work, surveys etc.
•Performs field investigations, surveys, studies, or other research in order to compile and analyze data for environmental impact studies.
•Performs soil, water, air, etc. sampling, wetland delineation, wildlife/habitat surveys, and similar site investigations and documentation of results.
•Escalates any legal compliance issues as necessary.
•Contributes to firm's knowledge management by assisting in the development of white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
•May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban, Community or Regional Planning or related discipline.
5 years of related experience Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preparing water supply planning, environmental, and land use studies and state and/or federal environmental compliance documents (e.g., CEQA, NEPA).

Skills and Abilities:
Solid knowledge of principles and methods for large scale land use including the relative costs and benefits.
Solid knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
Solid knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
