- 12-hour rotating shifts, including both day and night shifts (6am-6pm or 6pm-6am).

Job Overview
The Environmental Monitoring Technician I position in Elkton, VA manufacturing site plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of products produced. Working within the Quality Operations units, this role supports the laboratory team in monitoring and maintaining environmental standards. The technician will primarily work within a controlled aseptic environment, following strict gowning protocols and adhering to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect environmental monitoring samples (viable surface/air and non-viable air) from process areas.
- Perform environmental monitoring plate readings.
- Receive training and maintain certifications for gowning procedures.
- Conduct microbiological and chemical sampling of process water.
- Perform clean steam and compressed gas sampling and testing.
- Manage data entry and perform related data management tasks.
- Assist with facilities qualification testing and protocol testing.
- Prepare and maintain all necessary supplies and equipment.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for work activities and suggest updates when necessary, in coordination with management.
Qualifications
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field is required.
Experience
- Ability to work independently and manage a directed workload.
- Proficiency in computer systems and laboratory data management.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with lab data management systems.
- Familiarity with microbiology and aseptic techniques (training provided).
- Experience working in a cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) environment.
- Previous laboratory experience is a plus.
- Proficient in reading and writing English.
