Job Summary
Oversee the analysis and evaluation of air, waste, water, and land systems to evaluate environmental impacts. Conduct required environmental tests, analysis and observations. Evaluate results and make recommendations as necessary for maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. Direct the implementation of appropriate corrective action if necessary. Lead projects to improve environmental performance.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Develop environmental regulatory compliance profile for state, county, and federal regulations that are applicable to Dixie.
- Review proposed operational changes, modifications, or installations to ensure compliance with applicable air and waste regulation and/or permits.
- Prepare compliance documents and reports for submittal to regulatory agencies as required by the air permit or periodic reports for submittal to regulatory agencies.
- Create annual reports such as Toxic Release Inventory, and Annual Waste Summary to submit to regulatory agencies. Provide direction / support to Air Specialist for Annual Emissions Inventory.
- Support operations on issues related to wastewater treatment and hazardous waste disposal
- Track waste shipments and lead waste reduction projects.
- Coordinate storm water sampling, discharge monitoring, and sump clean-ups.
- Prepare various technical analyses associated with emissions from industrial sources, including calculation of emissions, review of control technologies, data analyses, preparation of permit applications and compliance with regulatory air quality requirements.
- Lead environmental compliance, permit projects, and dispersion modeling in support of air quality permit applications.
- Monitor changes to environmental regulations that apply to Dixie.
- Develop emission calculations (criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollutants and greenhouse gases); gather technical data from clients and through independent research, determine regulatory requirements (e.g. NSPS, NESHAP, and NSR/PSD) for emission sources; and assist in preparing compliance and permit documents.
- Prepare emission estimates based on site specific information using the approved state and federal calculation methodologies.
- Conduct root cause analysis for air incidents and work to reduce emissions events.
- Provide EHS support on off-hours as part of the EHS rotation.
- EHS responsibilities include: conducting inspections and audits related to the EHS program as assigned, participating in Hazard Reviews as needed, recommending safety improvements, completion of safety action items as assigned, completing required regulatory training, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Other assignments derives from the Dixie Chemical leadership team to meet the goals and objectives of the organization. Support the Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety, as directed.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering, environmental science, or related field.
- 5 – 7 years of experience in the environmental field, preferably at chemical manufacturing facility
- Demonstrated experience applying environmental regulations (ex. RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act) and working with environmental regulatory agencies (ex. EPA, TCEQ)
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment
- Strong initiative and drive to succeed
