Aptim Environmental and Infrastructure is looking for a junior to mid-level engineering candidate who is familiar with the environmental engineering trade, can apply their intellect and motivation to complete tasks with quality outcomes and efficient designs, and work with a long-standing, world-class team of Engineers, Geoscientists, and other licensed professionals. This position includes sampling of all types of environmental media, work with soil, water, and air treatment systems, supervision of construction activities, quality control, hazardous materials, and occasional emergency response activities. This positional also requires working knowledge of MS Excel as it pertains to data collection and automated datalogging and both utilizing existing worksheets and developing new ones to evaluate and display useful data.

Job Summary:
The junior to mid-level engineer in our APTIM Dallas, Texas office will perform a variety of engineering tasks associated with the planning, implementation, and management of environmental remediation and assessment projects. The successful candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently interact with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients alike. This position will work under the direct supervision of a Texas-licensed Professional Engineer where necessary, develop engineering proficiency in design, installation, and operation phases, assisting field staff via remote troubleshooting, management and evaluation of treatment system data, field supervision of larger projects, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Work will support environmental remediation and construction at various government and commercial client sites, primarily within the state of Texas but also including other states.
+ Typical engineering tasks include preparation of project plans, drawings, and figures, sizing, selection, specification, and procurement of mechanical and electrical equipment, collection and interpretation of environmental and engineering data, preparation of reports, and supporting field technicians and treatment plant operators with troubleshooting and improving remedial equipment.
+ This role includes implementing field activities and supervision of others working at project sites, including subcontractor personnel.
+ Typical general environmental tasks will include supervision of environmental and clean construction scopes, inspection of both internal project work and third-party contractors for conformance to specifications, and limited groundwater, soil, and air sampling.
+ Will ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as to company policies and procedures.
+ Our team supports a limited number of on-call environmental field support activities by taking turns with the responsibilities; a few weeks a year, 24-hour phone support and local-only site visits may be required.
+ Receives project briefing from Project Manager and/or Project Engineer, then moves forward to complete tasks with support; manages own time to anticipate project needs and senior objectives and decisions; moves forward with less support required over time.
+ This role will primarily support APTIM's TCEQ Superfund Program, as well as APTIM's Texas Solid Waste Engineering program. Secondary support will be provided to other APTIM services in Texas, such as general commercial, industrial, and local government clients.
+ This position requires 25% in-state travel.
Qualifications:
+ The candidate will have 2-8 years of direct experience in the field of environmental engineering. The preferred candidate will have at least 3 years of direct experience in the environmental field.
+ The candidate must have existing proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and utilizing web search services, with a working knowledge of other typical systems preferred, including Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, and Google Earth. Modeling systems experience is a plus.
+ Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to work independently with minimal guidance, and be able to determine own work priorities within an assigned task.
+ Open to taking direction and guidance from senior level engineers and managers.
+ Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business systems to improve products or services in own discipline.
+ Monitors and controls costs within own work. Solves moderately complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.
+ Manages own time to meet agreed schedule, budget, and quality targets.
+ Requires a Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering; BA not accepted for this role. Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering degrees preferred.
+ The candidate must be able to pass a hazardous materials handling physical, and on occasion must be able to wear a full-face respirator and conduct typical hazardous materials work activities.
+ The candidate must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license and drive their vehicle or a company vehicle to project sites on a regular basis.
+ Local travel during the day is regular with this position, and some travel including overnight stays will also be required. APTIM currently observes policies regarding COVID-19, which apply to but do not alleviate travel requirements and arrangements.
+ The preferred candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: low voltage AC electrical systems, programming of ladder logic, computer coding, and data and signals acquisition.
+ The preferred candidate will have collegiate-level or post-collegiate extra-curricular activities in the engineering field.
+ Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds from floor level.
