About the Job
The Environmental Consulting Department Manager will oversee the environmental services division, driving project success and ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. This role requires extensive experience in regulatory programs and environmental remediation, particularly in Missouri and Illinois. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with expertise in environmental consulting and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership: Set department goals, manage budgets, and oversee day-to-day operations.
- Team Development: Mentor and coach team members to ensure top performance and career growth.
- Project Management: Lead site investigations, corrective actions, and project reporting to meet regulatory requirements.
- Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to deliver high-quality solutions tailored to their needs.
- Regulatory Coordination: Interface with state and federal regulatory agencies, including the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), to ensure project approvals and compliance.
- Technical Oversight: Review and approve project proposals, work plans, and reports to maintain accuracy and adherence to environmental standards.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities for business growth and build strong client relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in environmental consulting or project management, with a focus on leadership.
- Strong understanding of State and USEPA Regulatory Programs, specifically:
- Extensive experience managing Illinois Tiered Approach to Corrective Action Objectives (TACO) and Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action (MRBCA) projects under both voluntary and tanks regulatory programs.
- Experience with regulatory agency interface, including working directly with regulatory bodies for project compliance and approvals.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and procedures for site investigations and corrective actions.
- Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and project timelines effectively.
- Strong communication skills for client management and regulatory collaboration.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports, project proposals, and corrective action plans.
