We are seeking a collaborative leader to work with corporate and state environmental compliance staff to expand and evolve Aqua’s Corporate Environmental Compliance Program.
- Environmental Compliance Management
- Company Environmental Compliance Strategy: Inform the company’s environmental priorities, goals, and implementation.
- Company Compliance Metrics: Oversee compliance metrics tracking program including monthly review and quarterly rollup of compliance data. Oversee annual evaluation of company compliance goals to improve compliance, communication/training of goals and review/tracking of corresponding metrics data.
- Regulations: Build and maintain knowledge in existing and new Environmental regulations and Laboratory data, particularly as it pertains to compliance data. Primary regulations are related to the Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Acts.
- Regulatory Programs: Lead or provide oversite to staff on existing corporate regulatory programs: CCRs, AWIA, Lead and Copper/Lead Service Line Inventories, PFAS, etc..
- State Data Support: Build and maintain strong relationships with state compliance staff. Collaborate with state compliance staff to promote sound compliance and data practices and support analysis as needed.
- Compliance Assurance Program (CAP): Support Aqua’s CAP Process which is part of our Plan, Do, Act, Check approach including on site meetings in states. Ensure environmental policies and procedures are being implemented companywide.
- Audit Program: Support development of an audit program using a combination of corporate and state resources.
- Environmental Compliance Data Management
- Software & Data Management: Implement and manage company Water Quality and EHS software. Includes managing consultants, staff support, training, data integrity, timely response to issues, and integration/alignment with other software. Provide support for laboratory software, as needed. Current software platforms include SAMS, Cority, Labworks and WaterSuite.
- Data Communication Tools: Oversee development and design of data reporting tools to streamline access to critical compliance data (flagging at risk water quality results, targeted communications of deadlines, alerts, etc.). These could be within existing software or in Qlik.
- Data Analysis: Conduct analysis of company data to target areas of risk, identify where capital is needed for compliance, shape implementation strategies for new regulations, PFAS class action lawsuits, etc.
- Data Reporting: Maintain or oversee staff on data roll-up programs such as ESG, Short Term Incentive, ongoing PFAS class action lawsuit updates, etc.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage employee(s) to ensure company-wide environmental compliance.
- Budget: Assist with budget preparation and management. Responsible to manage corporate and/or state projects and associated budgets.
- Performs other assignments as required to support Aqua’s EHS program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS Degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering or Environmental Science or related field
- Experience Level: Minimum of 5-10 Years of Related Experience
- Valid Driver's License: Required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Software/Data experience:
- Software implementation and project management experience.
- Oversite of software data programs and integrations experience.
- Database query/report development.
- Knowledge in the use of SQL preferred
- Experience with Qlik or similar software preferred
- Experience with SAMS and/or Cority a plus
- Regulatory: Knowledge of drinking water and wastewater environmental laws and regulations preferred (Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, etc.).
- Microsoft Office suite: Advanced Excel, Word‚ PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
- See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Working conditions include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities.
- Time spent in the field involves exposure to the elements, noise, and potentially hazardous substances and conditions.
- Available for company travel up to 10% of time.
- Privileges to work from home twice a week pending successful start.
