DLZ has an excitingEntry Level Structural Engineer opening in South Bend, IN.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Perform structural design engineering under close supervision or provide support to more experienced personnel.
- Perform other assignments requiring a solid grasp of the Structural Engineering discipline and the exercise of professional judgment.
- Perform structural analyses and design required for building structures, systems and equipment items.
- Prepare sketches and diagrams for review and confirm detailed drawings and layouts.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, economic and technical feasibility studies, and studies aimed at evaluating alternative systems, equipment, materials or engineer¬ing methods.
- Develop design documents associated with structural systems, including concrete, steel, masonry and wood.
- Review design to confirm code compliance.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and work in a team environment.
- Review installation of designed equipment/systems for compliance with Construction Documents.
- Work on a wide variety of project types, scales, and complexity within the public sector market.
- Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, opinion of construction cost estimates, and proposals.
- Review Contractor's shop drawing and product data submittals.
- Perform construction observation and coordinate field activities.
- Possess aptitude to act as a positive representative of the company and its core values.
- Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, emphasis in Structural Engineering
- 0 - 5 years structural engineering experience
- Engineer in Training (EIT), pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
- AutoCAD and/REVIT experience preferred
- Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
