Our global, R+D client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its team! This is a temporary role to fill in for a leave of absence.
The Accountant is responsible for preparing, reviewing and maintaining standard and specialized financial reports and records under general supervision according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for our manufacturing client. This position's duties involve work in many different areas, including accounting, travel and expense, vendor spend and expense analytics.
- This is a fully onsite role in Green Island, NY
- Hours are M-F, 8am-4:30pm
- Pay rate is a range depending upon experience level, $25-35/hr.
- Temporary role, 6 months, potential for extension and/or permanent hire
The Accountant will be responsible for:
- Preparation of accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports for review by senior peer or manager and ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
- Account reconciliations; reviewing accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences
- Administering and maintaining Concur expense system; including accounting data feeds, training, end user support and auditing expense program
- Adjusting journal entries
- Preparing cash disbursements
- Posting cash receipts and collections support
- Processing payables for data entry
- Performing accounting analysis and support finance projects as directed
To be considered for this role, the Accountant should have:
- Basic professional knowledge arising from a pertinent degree program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associates Degree in Accounting or related discipline and 2 years' relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong Excel experience and overall computer skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work cross functionally, both within the department and with other departments
- Must be able to learn and adapt to ever changing environment
