Job Title: General Mechanic
Location: Wentzville, MO
What will you be doing? Will make general repairs to railroad cars using various tools including cutting torch, grinder and welder. No prior railcar repair experience needed but helpful.
Are you qualified? Applicants should have strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn quickly. Experience working on farm and lawn equipment will typically transfer well to this type of work.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Comply with all industry, customer and company safety regulations and operating procedures
- Ensure that management is aware of current conditions and needed repair of all company equipment
- Notify site management of "bad order" (unserviceable) equipment
- Perform authorized repairs to customer, company and industry specification
- Document all repairs, properly accounting for actual time and parts utilized
- Operate various types of mechanical equipment including forklifts, spotter trucks, etc..
- Perform housekeeping duties as required by Management
What's Required:
- High School Diploma/GED or Ability
- Safety first mentality
- Must possess and demonstrate appropriate mechanical aptitude, as determined by the facility manager, to successfully perform the tasks associated with designated classification
- Ability to qualify under D15.1 American Welding Society (AWS) certification guidelines
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Able to meet attendance requirements
- A team work, can do attitude and willing to learn
- Valid state driver's license
