About the Job
The Hamilton (Trenton) NJ office has an immediate opening for a Civil or Environmental Engineer with 0 to 2 years of experience to work on large, complex civil/environmental remediation projects. The current, active project locations include New Jersey, New York, Texas, Illinois, Wyoming, Montana, and California. The job will require periodic travel to project locations.
Responsibilities include: working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to prepare design plans, specifications, and supporting documents; completing field activities (soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and system Operation and Maintenance [O&M]); performing field oversight of subcontractors; and assist in technical report preparation and evaluating site data to progress projects toward regulatory closure.
Qualified candidates should possess the following knowledge and/or experience:
- 0 - 2 years of related experience
- EIT Certification (a plus)
- Experience with or willingness to learn site/civil design including site grading, stormwater analysis, erosion/sediment control measures and earthworks estimating
- Interest in conducting environmental field investigations and data collection/sampling involving various contaminants such as petroleum compounds, chlorinated compounds, metals, MGP waste, etc.
- Experience with or willingness to learn NJDEP, RCRA, and CERCLA regulations and guidance documents
- Interest in hydrogeological and conceptual site modeling
- Ability to perform scheduling, lab coordination, data evaluation, technical report writing, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required, as well as effective oral and written communication skills. Civil 3D experience is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to follow direction with a positive professional attitude and work independently as well as work within a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational and multi-tasking skills.
The position requires strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities in order to ensure compliance with relevant state/federal regulations and client-specific requirements.
The ideal candidate must have previous experience working on civil/environmental projects and an established technical background in civil design and/or environmental remediation.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with up-to-date 8-hour refresher (a plus)
- Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) card (a plus)
