Job Summary:
As an entry-level Construction Materials Engineer, you play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects by assessing and verifying the properties and quality of materials used in construction. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer, you will coordinate field explorations, field logging of soil samples, performing engineering calculations/design, preparation of proposals and reports, and project and client support.
- Reviewing plans and specifications in preparation for field observations on construction sites
- Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results on projects
- Daily use of MetafieldĀ®, and/or other field and laboratory information management system
- Calibrating field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards
- Perform Special Inspection observations per the International Building Code (IBC)
- Communicating daily with management staff, general contractors, and clients
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management or a similar technical field
- 0-2 years of professional experience
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- Have basic math, reading, and writing skills
- Within 6 months of hiring, must obtain at least 1 certification associated with the type of duties and responsibilities assigned
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions outside normal business hours, as needed
- Walking over rough and uneven terrain, maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Traveling out-of-town and possibly overnight for assignments as needed
