S&ME is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Greensboro, North Carolina. Your Day-to-Day:
- Review Project Plans and Documentation: Familiarize yourself with project specifications before heading to the field, ensuring accurate reporting of material testing and observations.
- Leverage Technology: Use tools like MetafieldĀ® to efficiently document and manage field and laboratory data.
- Maintain Equipment: Verify that field and lab instruments meet industry calibration standards for accuracy.
- Conduct Inspections: Perform materials testing and inspections aligned with International Building Code (IBC) standards for safety and compliance.
- Communicate Effectively: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients, sharing updates and addressing site-related concerns.
What You Bring:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- 0-2 years of experience in construction materials testing or inspections, including soil, concrete, masonry, or asphalt.
- Certifications: Having one or more of the following is a bonus:
- ACI: Field Testing Technician Grade I, Strength Testing, or Laboratory Technician.
- ICC: Special Inspector for Concrete, Masonry, or Soils.
- DOT Certifications in Aggregate, Density, Asphalt, or Concrete.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly express yourself in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic Math Proficiency: Familiarity with weight, volume, pressure, and unit conversions.
Are You Ready to:
- Work outdoors most of the time, including in varying weather conditions?
- Stand and walk over rough terrain for extended periods, up to 12 hours a day?
- Handle field samples and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.?
- Safely operate equipment like wheelbarrows on uneven terrain at active construction sites?
