Scope of Job:
The Entertainment Supervisor assists with theatrical shows, experiences, and production elements for new or remounted projects/events in all phases, including pre-production, recruitment, auditions, rehearsals, load-in, show execution, strike, and/or post-mortem. They are the essential link between the Entertainment Manager (creative process) and the Entertainment Leads (daily operational execution of in-park entertainment).
Key Objectives:
- Assist and lead an array of tasks regarding the delivery of an assigned production, event, or entertainment experience, from planning and scheduling rehearsals to performing the role of Stage Manager during the rehearsal and production process, as needed.
- Knowledge of all positions necessary for show operation.
- Supervise, mentor, and support Cast and Crew on their assigned projects/events, including, but not limited to, Entertainment Leads, Performers, Technicians, Costuming, Makeup, etc.
- Attend casting meetings, rehearsals, and auditions for existing and upcoming productions, events, etc.
- Foster a fun, safe, positive, and professional work environment & provide excellent service for guests with children as the primary focus.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership oversight for and identify, track, update, and revise production deliverables throughout the production process for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and in-house Production, Marketing, Technical, or Operational Teams.
- Maintain health and safety standards within the park, along with Operations and Entertainment Manager, by ensuring that all Cast and Crew receive adequate training and ongoing coaching.
- Assist in creating and maintaining standard operating procedures for Entertainment and Production to ensure a smooth and safe working environment for assigned teams.
- Maintains assigned cast and crew schedules and timecards using company timekeeping programs.
- Serve as the point of contact during all rehearsals, installations, performances, and strikes regarding assigned products, events, or experiences, promptly reporting any needs to the Entertainment Manager.
- With help from the Entertainment Manager, execute the development, performance, and evaluation of cast or crew members within the assigned team and administer developmental discussions for successful daily operation.
- Direct and supervise auditions and/or musical, vocal, acting, or dance rehearsals, as needed.
- Cover for Stage Managers/Technicians as needed on their days off, vacation, absences, etc.
- Participate in other duties as assigned that support park and departmental goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of small-scale and large-scale show production and/or branded event offerings.
- Ability to create and read stage plots, “call” complex cue scripts, and block tracks.
- Expertise in performer recruitment and running production auditions and rehearsal processes.
- Experience with leading small or large groups of diverse theatrical teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
Background and Experience:
- 2+ years of proven experience in stage management, character/performer training, casting/auditioning/recruitment, and production design or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of proven experience in theatrical, cruise ship, or theme park live entertainment show production and operation.
- Basic lighting, audio, SFX, scenic design, costuming, and staging knowledge.
- Knowledge of costumed-character operational needs or general children’s live entertainment elements.
- Acting, musical, or vocal background, including ability to read sheet music, preferred but not required.
- Detail-oriented, multi-tasking, highly motivated, and proactive leader capable of meeting strict deadlines.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings & weekends, to support park operations.
- Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in theatre/performing arts, a related field, or equivalent professional experience within the entertainment/theatre industry is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for sustained periods, attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork, travel, and drive.
- Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the park site and interact with employees.
- Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, complete paperwork activities, and drive.
- Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
- Must be able to work in varying temperatures and climates inside and outside, as well as in direct and indirect sunlight.
Work Environment
- Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
- Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
