Join us.Enterprise Principal Software ArchitectEnterprise Architecture plays an integral role in defining and assessing the company’s architecture strategy, standards and practices. The team works to effectively translate our own organizations business objectives and technology strategies into specific architecture strategies and technology direction enabled by technologies and services. Introduction to teamWe establish standards and patterns for EG architecture which are incorporated across all our domains and enterprise technology to ensure all systems at Expedia Group adhere to the non-functional requirements. Above all else – we have fun.In this role, you will:Partner with technologists across all of EG to collaboratively solve problemsSupport and inform EG technologists via a community of practiceBuild relationships with leaders across the organization to understand business problems and apply a technology lens to solve themDesign a technology stack that is tied to business outcomes and our bottom lineCombine and share knowledge and skills in more than one functional area to promote effectiveness in the department or business unit/functionProvide active mentorship and rising talent identificationFill in for peer engineering director as need arises in setting technical next steps in co-ordination with engineering managementDevelop north star vision for domain in which they are focusedInterpret internal/external business challenges and recommends integration of the appropriate systems, applications and technology to provide a fully functional solution to a business problemIdentify areas for improvement and develops innovative enhancements using available software development tools following design requirements of customerAdvocate for designing software that is scalable, resilient and stableHave deep knowledge of entire system and ability to jump into code in any component to fire fight and contributeMake decisions on product technology direction based on deep subject matter knowledgeExpertise of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsLead collaboration with key stakeholders and contributes subject matter expertise to develop unique solutions to complex issuesEnable optimum organizational efficiency by taking a whole systems approach and thinking across boundaries to identify which polices/processes should be standardized and which should differProvide guidance when evaluating the impacts of a solution to ensure linkages between structure, people, process and technologyKeep abreast of broad industry trends and develops methods for implementing them in our environmentIdentify when new trends may be too disruptive for a reasonable implementation or spot the ephemerality of new trendsUnderstand that technology or automation doesn't solve every problemChampion prioritized initiatives across the local organization and work with others across EG to investigate those initiativesEnsure documentation is not overwhelming or obsoleteExperience and qualifications:Participated in peer’s performance reviews by providing technical assessment and feedbackDefined software engineering/architecture best practices at a department/organizational levelMakes choices across teams to apply a number of technologies or languagesPresents new technology choices to technical and non-technical observersServes as an expert for multiple domainsGuides others to make well defined technology choicesEstablishes approaches to solving technical opportunities that interact across a business unitUnderstanding of systems being created across EG and how own business unit would integrate with themAbility to understand and design highly complex systemsHas mastered software design best practices, shapes coding methodologies and best practices and evangelizes adoption of new platform technologiesMakes choices across teams to apply a number of technologies or languagesPresents new technology choice to technical and non-technical observersExpert for multiple domainsGuide others to make well-defined technology choicesCreates systems that interact across a business unitUnderstands systems being created across Expedia Group (EG) and how own business unit would integrate with themUnderstands and designs highly complex systemsEstablishes standards for operational excellence and code quality at a multi-project levelDrives principles and practices to guide others in design of software that is easily testable and observableUnderstands cross domain capabilities and how they integrate together.Bachelor's degree in a related field and 12+ years of experience; or Master's degree in a related field and 10+ years of experienceThe total cash range for this position in Seattle is $221,000 to $309,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $353,500, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $202,500 to $283,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $324,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.The total cash range for this position in Austin is $221,000.00 to $309,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $353,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
